With an aim to encourage Indian corporates to participate in industry specific conventions and exhibitions in Thailand, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) conducted road shows in New Delhi and Mumbai on August 17 and 19, 2010 respectively to showcase its exhibitions calendar for 2010. The road show called, ‘TCEB- India Exhibition Road Show 2010’ aimed to promote business opportunities in ASEAN. TCEB has also enhanced the offerings of the ‘Extra Night, Extra Smile’ campaign and re-launched it in the Indian market.
According to the figures provided by TCEB, while MICE tourism contributes to about 13 per cent of the total tourism business in Thailand, about 15 per cent of this business is contributed from the Indian market. “Thai-Indian relations have been very strong since several years and India has reassured its support to The Kingdom by not issuing any travel advisories during the political turmoil in Thailand. Instead, we received a steady inflow of tourists from India. Thailand is today becoming the gateway to the ASEAN region and we expect Indian companies to make use of this economic platform.
