Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurates Terminal 3 at IGIA, New Delhi

IGI Airport, New Delhi According to a PTI report, the new Terminal 3 (T3) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi was inaugurated today by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. After inaugurating the terminal, Singh said that the Indian aviation sector has the potential to absorb up to USD 120 billion of investment by 2020.

UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, Delhi were among the dignitaries present on the occasion to dedicate T3 built by GMR group backed developer Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL).

Spread over four kms, 80 per cent of T3 is made of glass and supported by metal frames. The nine level terminal building will be used for 90 per cent of the entire passenger movement in the airport. The new terminal is expected to handle 34 million passengers annually.
