New Delhi's IGIA Terminal 3 to soon get self check-in kiosks
7th Aug 2010
For the first time at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), passengers will be able to enjoy self check-in facilities at the new Terminal 3 from next week. Ashwani Khanna, Vice President (Airport Operations), Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said, “This is for the first time that such a facility is being provided any Indian airport. There will be four Common User Self Service counters where passengers will be able to check-in themselves. On the touch screen, passengers will be able to select their airline and then key in their flight and PIN number. They will also be able to choose the seat of their liking.”
According to a report in Hindustan Times, Khanna said that they are currently in talks with the airlines as to how and where passengers will deposit their luggage. Claiming that the delay in baggage processing has reduced to 45 minutes, he added, “We are aiming to reduce this time further. We are tying up some loose ends and improving the way baggage is fed into the system.”
Six new check-in counters have also been added to the international transfer area.
