Expedia eliminates membership fee of Travel Agents Affiliate Programme
1st Nov 2010 Expedia has announced that it has eliminated the membership joining fee for travel agents to join the Expedia Travel Agents Affiliate Programme (TAAP) in Asia Pacific. Since the launch of the Expedia TAAP in August this year, the joining fee had been waived temporarily. The decision has been made to eliminate the fee completely.
Stuart Udy, Manager of Travel Agent Distribution APAC, Expedia said, “We have received a great uptake to the programme and the joining fee is a small part of the programme which we have decided to drop completely. Bookings are well ahead of our revenue targets so there is no need for the fee.”
According to the company release, Expedia announced the elimination of amendment and cancellation fees on the APAC Expedia websites in March this year and so the elimination of the TAAP fee falls in line with the current Expedia No Fee policy. The TAAP programme has attracted over 2,000 users in India since its launch in March. “The integrity of our product is our greatest strength, our inventory base is huge and our rates are great,” said Udy.
